Why can't I see the name of the firm/office I am calling?

[Android Central Question]

With my old phone (Nexus 5, with 6.0.1) when I was calling a firm or an office or in general a place of work, I would see the caller ID of the firm I was calling (despite it was NOT in my contacts), making it easier to recognise later.

With my new phone (Huawei P20 lite with the latest version of Oreo) this capability doesn't seem to be there any more. Is there a way to activate it again? I thought it was very convenient. I don't have problems with people on my contact list.

I would like to add that I googled it before posting and found nothing at all, not even a mention. It makes me wonder if what I saw was normal... (or perhaps I cannot find the right keywords )

I believe an application gave you the info. Apps like Hiya will do that, as well as tmobile Name ID software.

I am not aware of having any app on my old phone that would do that. And I have never been on T-mobile...

But I did have a similar call blocker. Probably that was it then... Thanks a lot It has been driving me demented.

Not a problem. Set up Hiya, or find out what your old one is called.
