Why can't I send a text message using my Lenovo A5000?

why can't i send text message using lenovo a5000

I recently bought a lenovo a5000. I had it checked to where I bought it but they don't have technician so I was told to send it it to the repair center. They tried to reset my phone but the one you press to finalize factory reset do not function. They tried hard reset, using volume up with power button but the volume up can select but volume down or power button cannot confirm

Can you receive calls / messages? might be worth while speaking to your sim card provider - see if they can assist.
