Can't unlock Galaxy Note 4

Having my phone resting on my office desk, lying across the USB cable, that must have interacted with the screen. When I turned the phone over it was locked! I can no longer swipe my fingerprint and I cannot for the life of me remember my backup password.

I have legal data that I CANNOT lose within the text messages and phone conversation saved by apps!

Can anyone tell me how to get the phone back to a state where I can swipe my fingerprints again!! Please Help! I can't lose this data, so a hard reset IS NOT an option! I just need the ability to scan fingerprints!

Please help!

It won't help now, but I recommend getting a password manager like Dashlane that allows you to store all passwords while only needing to remember one master password. It can be accessed via any operating system. Saves my bacon quite often!

Welcome to Android Central! If you fail the unlock enough times, does it ask for your Google credentials?

If you have crucial data stored on your device, you really need to make sure it's backed up somewhere safe. Flash memory does not last forever, and can fail at any time, so if the device suddenly decided to melt down spontaneously, you'd be in the same boat.

These backup passwords are very important as well. If you're prone to forgetting passwords, write them down on a piece of paper and keep that stored somewhere secure, like a safe.

You may still be able to get into it from a computer. Go to the google device manager and sign in with that and then i think it might give you an option to unlock your phone that way. I have not done it but read on other threads thats a way.

The good news is im sure your backing up your files to the cloud since these are so important. Storing legal data on your phone with no other back up is a nightmare waiting to happen. Its a phone after all, they fail, break, get stolen, or like this stuff happens.

You can go to androiddevicemanager.com on a pc or another device and reset you password there. If you have AT&T and they back up your text messages to the cloud not sure about the other carriers.
