Why Can't I Use An OTG Micro USB Cable On My Galaxy Grand Prime Plus Android Phone

Hello:
I obtained a Micro USB cable a few hours ago to connect my USB keyboard to my Android phone, but the cable is not working. A connection was not possible.
Please what is the reason behind this problem. I don't understand it.
The phone is a Samssung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus SM532 Android phone, which I obtained in June last year 2017.
Please is there a solution to this problem? what exactly can I do to get the cable to connect my USB keyboard to my phone.
I need help, please help.

Doing a few different searches, I couldn't find any mention of that phone being capable of OTG. It's not the cable that does the work, it';s the phone, the cable just tells the phone to switch modes. If the phone isn't capable of OTG, the cable won't make it capable.
