Why can't i watch 1440p on my s9+

[Android Central Question]

For some reason when i try to watch videos on my s9+ and i set the display to WQHD+ and i go into Youtube and try to watch a for example 4k hdr video i go into the video and attempt to change the quality the maximum is only ever 1080p. I've tried it on multiple videos. Please help!

are you sure the videos you're trying to watch 4k content? try searching "4k video" and see if you can watch one of those in 4k ... ?

Restart the phone after changing the res. Had it once.

Some carriers limit the streaming resolution, I know with Sprint it works fine but an associate with AT&T using the same phone is limited to 1080. Search your carrier in the data plan it tells you the limits.

Is there a difference if it's on WiFi or mobile data?
