Why can't I watch movies in my gallery with MX player on my HTC One M8?

why cant i watch movies in my gallery with mx player i have the htc one m8

When I tap on a movie it doesn't play through mx player I really need help thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Is it defaulting to your stock video app? Go to Settings>App Manager>All​, select your stock Video app, and Clear Defaults. Now try tapping a movie to play, and see if it gives you a choice of apps to open it with.
