How is it that I can't download a playlist of music that is made of just songs I uploaded from my personal library and not from YT Music without subscribing???

My playlists transferred over from GPM. You don't see them in your YT Music Library?

They did and I can play them, but if I want to download them (and yo be clear they only contain music from own personal library that I transferred from Google play) I get a pop up that basically forces me to pay for YT Music to follow through with download, or I have to cancel. I shouldn't be forced to only stream something that I uploaded myself. If it's from non personal uploads I could understand that, but not this.

This, aside from the fact that I wasted an entire extended trial period waiting to even be able to migrate my library to YTM so I could try it in the way I planned to use it, is why I abandoned that service. Even worse - I primarily play music while out walking, unless I pay I can't play music THAT I UPLOADED with the screen off. For AUDIO? REALLY?

Nope, Google lost me there, I moved my library to a computer in my apartment that's always running and I set up a Plex server for HALF the cost of YTM. Yes, I still need to pay but I can use my library in exactly the way I want.

I'm able to play my own stuff with my screen off so far, I do sometimes have issues with Android auto playback though.

Also I don't have a computer I can leave on all the time so I'm pretty much stuck since I can't store all my stuff on my phone

Back to Apple Music?

Yes.
I am going to try Chromebook for my laptop and tablet and iPhone for mobile. There are certain things that are most important to me when mobile; I download my own music so I want it to be easy to work with, weather is also important and with Darksky now exclusively with Apple that’s another check. Things like that have me back with my Xr.

I have free Apple Music with my Verizon account, but I rarely use it. I prefer streaming, and Apple Music just doesn't have the selection that is available on YouTube Music or Spotify. I listen to music that isn't the typical pop music found everywhere.

I don’t either, I listen to quite a variety including Prog, Stringband etc. and have found almost everything I need on Apple Music. If not, and I can find it elsewhere, I can easily transfer it to my Apple Music library. Win/win for me.

Does Apple Music on Android not allow you to download your music?

I haven’t tried Apple Music on Android. Maybe I’ll give it a try.

Edit: It appears you have to sign up for a subscription. I don’t see a way to sync my purchased music. If anyone knows please let me know.
