Why did all my apps disappear?

I have a Samsung galaxy S2. about a week ago, my phone powered off with out warning. when i turned it on again, all my apps had disappeared as well as some - but not all - of my contacts, but my music and pictures remained. my applications are still there when i go to applications manager, but they are greyed out, and the names are things like "com.facebook.orca" and "com.snapchat.andriod".
On top of this, i am unable to access google playstore in order to re-download them! i cannot click on the playstore button, and when i try to download anything from the playstore in my browser, it doesn't download the app.
i am very distressed, please help!

Welcome to the forums. Did you have any apps on your SD Card? What carrier do you have?

just torn off ur S2 then go to recovermode (pressing 3 buttons e.g the homekey+powerkey+volume up hold for 5 secs) then a menu will be on..touchscreen will not work so use volume keys to navigate and home key to select...select wipe data and cache done! the select reboot system now expect that it will be okay
