Why did an app diable my phone functionality?

So yesterday I open up Snatchat and the app immediately shut my phone down and would not stay on after I attempted several times to power it back on. I connected it to the charger and I was able to delte the app but now my phone isn't working properly. What do I do?

I would do a factory reset on your device.
