Android Central Question

I have a Blu Vivo Xi+ with android 9 using nova launcher.
When making a phone call or receiving a call, once on the call, the onscreen buttons (Mute, keypad, speaker, hang up etc) won’t work, nothing happens when I press them. I have to drag down from the top of the screen to see the call listed and press hang up there in order to end the call. I cannot call numbers with automated systems that require you to press a number as a result. I have tried force stopping and clearing cache of the android phone app and restarting, but still have the same problem. I noticed in google assistant/snapshot or whatever it says 3 days ago there was an update for “Call on speakerphone, hands-free” but this is probably unrelated. Any advice? The phone has been working great for like a year up until this.

As I wait to see if anyone has any suggestions I will try installing a 3rd party phone app to see if this will work. Thanks!

Original poster again, it works fine in safe mode, and I tried installing True Phone Dialer and this works in normal mode. I would really rather use the built in phone app though, so if anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated. =]

If it works in Safe Mode, then something you installed is interfering. It might have to do with a screen overlay/display over other apps issue. Go to Settings>Apps>Advanced>Special App Access>Display Over Other Apps, and see what has permission to do so. Try disabling some of those permissions (concentrate on 3rd party apps you installed, not preinstalled Google or Blu apps).
