Why Did my s6 get very hot when not in use

Phone not in use picked it up after 4 hrs not used it ,felt very hot and was turned off. Only had it a month. No apps running. Don't play games on it. After another 3 hrs it then started to charge, up till then woul not turn on or charge.

Welcome to Android Central! Hard to say--the battery might be defective, or there may have been an app that was malfunctioning and working overtime, causing increased CPU and battery usage, as well as heat production. Keep a close eye on the phone--if it happens again, look at the Settings>Battery menu to see if any app is using an inordinate amount of battery. Consider bringing it back to your wireless store to ask for an exchange, or contacting Samsung for warranty service.
