Why did they change the buttons?

Just got my G4 today and for the most part it's a decent upgrade over my G3 but can't understand why they felt the need to change the shape of the power & volume buttons. The volume buttons don't bother me much but the shape and feel of the power button does. It was perfect on the G3. I hate it when companies do this -- it's almost as if they changed it just because it's a newer version of the phone so it needs a new power & volume buttons. Call me crazy but I'm seriously thinking about sending it back to T-Mobile because of this. The rest of the changes/upgrades haven't "Wow'd" me so far.

I think they gave it a hump so your finger could find it easier without feeling around

Never had a G3, but I saw some reviews mention the new non-round power button shape making it easier to find by feel, and not be confused by the camera bump.

Reason seems to be so many people with the G3 saying it's a little hard to find the power button because it's round like the camera lens.
Myself, I like the G4 buttons better.

As somebody who practiced and practiced to find the buttons on the G3, the G4 is a godsend. I guess I'm one of those guys that need the physical feedback.

It feels weird at first, but it makes sense. It's a whole lot easier to distinguish power from volume now. You get used to it. I don't even notice the difference anymore even which I switch to my G3.

And you're crazy.

Yes, the new button is in fact a thoughtful, simple and effective design improvement. :)

I miss the lighted power button from the G2. Thought it was a cool feature if your phone was face down.
