Why did Verizon just call me?

I just got a call from Verizon: "I see you just updated to a new smart phone and I just wanted to make sure everything was going ok with it." I answered that overall I love the phone but that I'm annoyed by the unremovable Bing and the signal strength being not so great. He didn't acknowledge either of my points and then moved on. "ok, so you've got your email and everything set up ok?"

So I'm glad you are calling to check on me and my new phone, but if you don't care about anything I have to say why are you going to give me an opportunity to say it???

Something else I just realized - They called my home phone, not the cell number I have registered with them. What's up with that????

If someone called me to ask about my new phone and didn't acknowledge any of my complaints, I would have just hung up on them and be done with it. It's obvious that they probably wouldn't be able to correct the problems with Bing and the signal strength at that time but why bother listening to them if they don't want to listen to you? Just my $.02

Exactly. I didn't expect him to be able to fix the problem, but I at least wanted to "register" my complaint with them. I figure the more people that they get complaining about a particular issue the more likely they are to do something about it. But yea, if you aren't even going to acknowledge what I'm saying why are you calling.

Ever get up to the register at the supermarket and they ask "Did you find everything ok?" Ever tried saying, "No, I didn't." ? They have no clue how to respond to that. I got the same feeling from the Verizon rep.

Believe me they know about these issues. Bing will no longer be mandatory on 2.2 If then can fix the call issues then will.

Good one, I'm going to try that tonight. It's just a reflex for them to say it, kind of like the rep that called you.

Its similar to saying "Hi. How are you?" No one really cares how you are when they ask you. They don't want to know that your dog just died and that you lost your shoe in the sewer after a ferret ripped it off your foot while you were on the phone with the Verizon rep who didn't care about your problems either. :p

Hahaha! That cracked me up!

Best buy did the same thing a few days after I got my phone from them. They even asked me when I was getting it when would be a good time to call me because they'd check up on it. It was even the same guy from the local store that I bought it from.
