Why did Verizon remove Google & Replace it with Bing?!

I do not like Bing in my house.
I bet it would not be liked by a mouse.

I could not, would not Bing on a boat.
I will not, will not, Bing near a goat.

I would not, could not use Bing on a box.
I would not use Bing when scared by a fox.

I would not, could not Bing from a tree.
Try it, try it, you will see.

I could not, would not Bing in my car.
Verizon tells me go ahead, here they are.

I can not read Bing searches in the dark.
I would not use Bing on a lark.
Not in the rain. Not from a train.
Not in a tree. I do not like Bing you see.

I do not like Bing here or there.
I do not like Bing anywhere.

I dont have Bing anymore. I am officially using Google on my 2.1 fascinate WITHOUT root or 3rd party Launcher! soft key, widget & Voice Search !

How so? Because in this post: http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate/40630-stupidly-deleted-system-apps-root.html it says you are rooted. Do share how to accomplish this.

I meant Currently not rooted. I rooted and odin recovered my phone about 5-6 times... I messed up alot lol.

But yeah,.. I currently do NOT have root access.
This is what I did.

Downloaded Launcher Pro..... wait... keep reading before you call me out on this.
Downloaded EnhancedGoogleSearch.apk
Downloaded Googlesearchwidget.apk from Megaupload.com
Then Deleted Launcher Pro..
After I uninstalled it.... I hit the default search softkey and realized it went through google... I held it down and to my surprise It routed voice search through google also...
I went to the widget selection popup and there was google search.

Now... Im not pretending I kknow what happened because I dont.... All i know is my fascinate somehow completely replaced bing with Google.

Any theories?
Would anyone like a video as proof?

I believe ya, and that's cool, I'll give it a try and see what happens.

can you pm the link to the widget

my search goes to google when I am on the home screen but if I am in the "browser" and search within the address bar or press the search button it will use the verizon/bing search.

Samsung Phone not Google phone

This is Samsung's phone on the Google Android OS. It's not a "Google" phone. Notice how the the phones with Google's blessing have the Google logo on the phone? I would only consider the Nexus' as the only Android phones that can be consider "Google phones" since they worked in partnership with the device manufacturers directly.

As we saw at CES, Android can be on any device, toaster, tablet, ebook reader, car, etc. Not even Google knows everyone who is using Android. That's the benefit of an open OS. Even Microsoft can build for it. Also, Microsoft has put Bing on the iOS also.

Verizon has a deal with BING. It's the default when you get Verizon Internet also.

You can also complain to Google that it doesn't release the Google search in the Marketplace as it does Google Maps, Voice, Goggles, etc.

That maybe be true. But with a rooted phone, you can just pht a new rom on it and remove, change, replace what you want.
