We all have our reasons why we choice this phone out of the virtual treasure trove of android devices available to us today. I want to know what your reason was, what your runner up was, and what your previous phone was

I was between the DINC2 and the Thunderbolt
most of the innards of both phones are the same
reasons i chose the DINC2 over the TB are

  • lighter
  • bigger battery
  • perfect screen size. 4.3" too big for me
  • world phone. don't travel out of country but nice to have the option

my previous phone was the DINC1 and i figured this phone basically is a true upgrade to what i had

I don't live in a 4g area, I loved my original dinc every since day 1 (usually doesn't happen with me and phones), 439.99 off contract price and I had a $150 best buy gift card.

Soooooooo glad I purchased this phone. It's honestly the best phone I've ever owned.

My Eris was definitely approaching EOL and I was getting tired of constantly needing to worry about ROM updates, tweaks, changes, etc.

4G is at least a year out for my area despite being sandwiched between two major cities.

Do little to no gaming on my phone so dual-cores would have 0 benefit for me

My Treo on Tmobile was dying.

It got crappy coverage in my out-of-the-way area so I wanted to move to Verizon for better coverage.

I wanted Android. I wanted HTC if I could get it. (I've been impressed with them since before they were making things under their own label).

I wanted 4G.

So the Thunderbolt was perfect (minus the HDMI out and dual cores than I wanted).

But I had call quality problems, bad battery life problems, I got spotty 4G coverage in my area, and it was too heavy.

So the Dinc2 was my fallback. I consider it a lesser phone, but one without dealbreaking problems as far as I can tell. I'm happy it's HTC. I liked the bigger screen but 4 is just fine really.

I just got mine today. I had the bb bold 9650 and in a years time the paint came off and the trackpad cracked and it kept rebooting at random esp when tethering. I really wanted to hold out for the Merge since it had a keyboard but my Bold was dying fast. I liked the Dinc 1 that my kid had so I thought I would get the 2nd gen. So far its pretty good. I don't live in a 4g area and wont for about 2 yrs. I figured why pay more for a phone like the tbolt that I can't get the most out of. Huge learning curve switching from BB to Android but lots of pros. The only thing is that my power/wake up button seems hard to push. Anyone know if this is normal on this phone? I have to push it a couple of times for it to work, can't tell if its me or the button is wonky.

^^ same with me the power button is kinda stiff and hard to press about my only negative with this phone. But I got it because I wanted a good user experience loved the 4 inch form factor and the bolt wasn't worth the premium IMHO plus at this point I would rather have a global phone than LTE which I would have to drive an hour to use
