why didn't samsung make better use of the fingerprints?

There is an app called Material Messaging that allows for fingerprint security to open it. I'm wondering why samsung didn't implement this feature into the stock apps. My work email would a place where I can think of this feature coming in handy..thoughts? Any other apps that do this?

I use messages plus but that looks really nice. And I love the fingerprint setting .. hmm
