Why didnt you upgrade to the HTC EVO 3D?

I upgraded from the Epic 4g to the Evo 3d, best decision ive made with phones. the UI is soo much better then the touchwiz. My wife has the evo 4g and its so slow and clunky next to my phone. she likes to steal it every once and awhile. i wish ppl would stop saying the 3d is stupid. THE PHONE IS NOT IN 3D! only the pictures/videos that you take in 3d mode are 3d. i do find myself seeing objects in a different way though. when i take pictures now, i try to find cool angles to get the most out of the 3d part. you can convert the picture to 2d with a click of a button. btw i didn't buy the phone for the 3d, i bought it because its a quality phone, dual core, and guaranteed to get ICS when its comes out and sense 3.0 rocks.

the true successor to the EVO 4G was not the EVO 3D. the true successor must have -

1. 4.5-5" display with little/no bezel, no capacitive buttons, and ice cream sammmmmich.
2. dual core processor or better.
3. no 3D gimmicks or ugly cameras and buttons and switches.
4. LOTS of internal free RAM - 1-2GB+.

you can call it the EVO "HD".

Well said.

Since sprint had to go and change they're premier program won't be able to upgrade and for more than a year. They should of only did that for new customers. I been loyal customer since 2005 why should we have to suffer. How many others have had to suffer. And 3D isn't even that great anyways.
:-\

All you have to do is contact Sprint and tell them you want the one-time return to gold (i.e. yearly upgrades). They will give it to you. I got mine.

I get a full upgrade every year and didnt get the 3D because to me the EVO4G hasnt been outdone by the 3D. I have MikG sense 2.1/3.0 on my phone. 8MP camera vs. 5MP? Some say the 3D still takes better pics but I have tested them both and no, not really. I could care less about the 3D as well. Plus I knew that the HTC kingdon was coming out. I'll wait to see what the specs on that are and maybe I'll get it.

Ahhhh....well my OG EVO has a broken usb charging port, which according to Sprint is NOT covered under warranty. Currently fighting that battle. That said, I like the 3D but it seems a bit "half baked". If I WAS baked, it would be cool to have it.
I was holding out for the EVO 4G+ unfortunately it seems as if this is NOT coming to the USA. Instead, we'll get the "EVO Design" and those specs just BLOW. I'm so on the fence here it's not even funny.

Do I bite the bullet and move on, away from HTC? I do love my Sense. *sigh*.....

What you are describing is smaller than the EVO 4G. The upcoming Samsung, LG, and Hitachi 4.5" edge-to-edge displays would do this with 720p and be smaller than our EVO 4G's.

The first like this will be the Samsung Galaxy S III at CES 2012. CES 2012 will be awash in these. The HTC Vigor will be 720p this fall but not edge-to-edge.

Edge-to-edge allows displays to grow to 5" but the phone cases will be smaller.

As soon as my darn upgrade becomes eligible. I may have to only pay $49.99 by then. :p

The only reason I'm still on the og evo is because sprint changed my status and I refuse to pay full retail when my og evo works great.

@treooo0
How did you exactly go about that. I still have to dec. That was my last upgrade. Was it fairly easy to ask for a onetime return to gold??

besides take 3d pics my og evo does everything that the evo 3d does anyways. I dont need sense 3.0 either, hell i dont need sense at all :) and theres plenty of roms out there for the og evo to play around with.

Just wondering!

I know a lot of people did and others did not. What was your turn off to the new E3D? This is my first HTC/Android phone and I love it so far! Just wondering what others are thinking!

My first upgrade isn't due until December. While the EVO 3D is impressive, it doesn't have one feature that I need in my next phone- World phone capability. Any phone that doesn't have CDMA+GSM, no matter what other features it has, simply will not be my next phone. Had the EVO 3D that feature, it would be under consideration. To be honest, I'd love to also have a physical keyboard because typing on a phone screen sucks, so if the next version of the EVO Shift has an FFC and World phone capability, that might be the one.

Also, I can't stand Sense. My EVO went positronic on me when I installed and was using Launcher Pro. After a reboot, it "disabled Launcher Pro" and made Sense default. So the EVO Shift would definitely need to have everything I want for me to be willing to put up with Sense again.

I came from a Blackberry to Android about 3 weeks ago. When I upgraded the EVO was free at Radio Shack and the EVO 3D was $199.99. It was a no-brainer for me. Next year when I?m eligible again, maybe I?ll look at the 3D if it?s in that under $50 range.

I was in the same position a month ago & got my Evo for free:-$, plus I wasn't too fond of the huge camera on the back of the 3D. Coming from a BlackBerry the specs on the OG Evo were plenty:D I'll upgrade to something new next year!!

Awesome feed back guys! I knew a lot of people who have the OG EVO. They seem happy with it too for the most part. Custom ROMs look awesome but I also think that's coming along on the E3D just fine too!

I came from a Palm Pre- so this was a HUGE upgrade for me. All most a no brainer. WebOS was down for the count and Android seems to be doing just fine. I miss some of the features of WebOS but I have not looked back! So far the grass is greener on this side. Glad I made the jump feet first!

If they made a EVO 3D with no 3D option would you buy the HTC EVO 4G+? Looking like we have another phone just like the 3D but no Dual-core CPU. Just a single core 1.2GHz...Would that make you upgrade?

Evo was my first touch-only phone. I want a physical keyboard next time.
Besides, my Evo meets all of my present needs until the phone I want (Epic2 or Pax are good candidates) is out.

Fair enough! I wonder if they will make a EVO shift part 2 some how with a real keyboard.

Well I love my EVO. And by the time my upgrade is here, there's gonna be a even bigger monster on the shelves lol

I could just not use the 3d feature,
But that just means it is bloatware,
Taking up resource space which could be better suited,
For both software and hardware,
If only the Photon was an HTC device,
Evo 4g still fills my needs,
Until something SUBSTANTIALLY BETTER comes along

Like many others I didn't upgrade to the 3D as I am not due for an upgrade from my OG EVO. I would have liked HTC to have released both the 3D and a non 3D version of the phone. I like all the specs of the 3D but can do without all the 3D extras. I am going to be taking a serious look at the Samsung Galaxy S 2 when it hits Sprint.

All those that didn't upgrade due to the change in Sprint Premiere, you can get a one time exemption.
Call Sprint customer retention at 877-775-4886. I didn't upgrade because I have cases, spare batteries, docks, etc for my OG EVO. There just wasn't enough improvement to warrant the cost of the new phone plus all of the accessories. The Gingerbread update on the EVO was bad enough to almost force an update thought. Waiting for root to Gingerbrea to run custom ROM.

While the evo 3d does have a 5mp camera, it takes better picture and video then the Evo 4g. There have been many threads in these forums and others proving it.

Many of you do not seem to realize that the phone is not in 3d. It is only a small part of it for pictures and videos., and you don't even have to use it. I wish Sprint ot HTC would start promoting the phone on its other merits as well. It seems many of you think it is an Evo 4g in 3d. Which is far from the truth.
