Why do a Green Dot be on my video call and on my text message

I google searched this exact question and am bummed there's no answer yet. Here is a screenshot. I'm using a moto g stylus 5g 2022 phone -- I believe I was reading somewhere that this is a feature of Android version 12.0 or something? I don't even know what software or firmware I'm running on honestly though. But I'm assuming these green dots on certain contacts messages/calls/video/etc. are the equivalent of Androids version of iMessages from Apple: that I can see when this person is typing a reply or has read my texts LIVE. Like a green dot means live usually. And that I can directly video chat with this person through the built in version of Android we are both running... That they're compatible. That's my best guess. I'll keep searching but wanted to add the screenshot to reply to the others and since the original person hasn't seen it yet or been able to send screenshots.

Welcome to Android Central! I think you're correct. One easy way to test would be to turn off RCS Chat features on your phone (or ask one of your contacts with a green dot to turn off RCS on their phone) and see if the dot goes away.
