Why do apps show as installed but no icon?

apps show as installed but no icon

When I search for Gmail app it shows as installed. There is no icon anywhere on my Galaxy s6 to start the program

Are you sure you're not 'hiding' the app? Or that it hasn't been moved to the 'secure' portion if you're using Knox?

Are you using stock launcher? It comes pre organized in the Google folder, so make sure you check there if you haven't moved anything out of that folder.

I forgot about that one! Yup, the folder thing for Google also makes sense. Unless it happens with non-Google apps, then it could be something else.

Have you checked under "hidden apps", in the app menu?

Stock app drawer doesn't have hidden apps...
