Why do I constantly get an Authentication Problems error?

Authentication problems

I have a Verizon 4G Lite and I constantly get "Authentication problem" when I try and go on the Internet. I've shut off the router and redid the password. It says its at full strength but there is a lock next to the power bars.
I have put more time into this then most sane people.
Could someone please explain how I might possibly fix it? And if anyone's wondering, yes,I am this stupid
