Why do I get the message google play services has stopped?

google play services has stopped

every 10 seconds a little box pops up and says unfortunately, google play services as stopped

Welcome to AC.

Try Settings, Apps, All, scroll to Play Store, and select Clear Cache.
If no go, try a Cache Partition wipe.
Let us know if still no go.
