Why do I have zero LTE or 3G data on a brand new phone?

Just picked up a ZTE Speed phone for Boost Mobile. Bought it at 12:25, was activated at the store. I live right next door and almost under the Sprint LTE tower, yet I only get one bar of LTE service or one bar of 3G service. In both cases, I can't do anything that requires data. I know ZTE makes crappy phones but I didn't expect it to be THIS bad. Every other Boost phone I have owned over the last year got 4 or 5 bars all the time. And ideas? I alreaded updated the PRL and phone's firmware. Only thing I have left to try is to go back to KitKat 4.4.2. It's running 4.4.4 right now. Thanks!!
