Why do I still have an unread email?

I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 and I set up my email through my phone. However, I have read all emails in both my inbox and my combined inbox, I have even gone as far as deleting all of the emails on my phone in general, but the phone still shows that I have an unread email, and there is still a "1" badge on the email icon. Any suggestions?

That's so annoying because that's for the oldest emails

Can you log into your mail account from a pc or on the Web and check spam folders? Every once in a while a random spam email goes into spam folder and I have to delete from there, not the device.
