Why do jpgs from the phone gallery email at such small sizes?

I noticed that the file sizes average around 2 to 4 mb.

I want the original size so I retain the most information for editing, especially cropping.

While transferring an image this morning I somehow came across a screen that offered me an option to send either the small file or one that was 18mb.

Unfortunately I couldn't find that screen again.

How can I share the original size jpg?

That's up to your email provider usually - the limit is 25MB. Go to your email app and look in settings, either for the app or for the individual account, for the "18MB" setting.


(Photos aren't "from Gallery" - Gallery is just an app that displays the photos that are on your phone.)

Thanks for the clarification of the gallery.

I checked "My Files" for the images on my micro SD card and I see that their sizes are very small - from .98mb to 5.33mb.

The files from my Note 4 were much bigger than that.

I don't think the email provider has anything to do with the size of the images in the phone.
