Why do my touch key lights go off?

Touch key lights go off

Galaxy Note 4 using 5.1.1. I set the touch key light duration to 'always on' and after a while it reverts to 'always off'. What's happening?

Welcome to Android Central! Any power-saving modes on? Or any screen-dimming apps installed?

No dimming, no power saving. I also don't know how long it takes to go off. If the screen sleeps and I wake it up within a few minutes, it's still on. But later on, it's just gone off at some point.

Does it happen in Safe Mode? If not, then some 3rd party app is probably causing it. Galaxy Note 4 Safe Mode: What you need to know | Android Central
