Why do the pictures from my camera keep disappearing?

pictures from camera keep disappering

I have a galaxy note 2 and for the past 2 days I've noticed all my pictures from my camera are all gone and my folders too. I'm so mad because I have pictures of my daughter and I want them back. what can I do? Now they did come back yesterday and all my files where back and pictures but still not all of them and now they are all gone again. please help

Welcome to Android Central! Are the photos on Internal Storage or a microSD card? If the latter, the card might be failing. Unmount the card (in Settings>Storage), remove it, and insert it into your computer--does the computer recognize it? If so, back up all of the photos NOW.
