Why does a 'unable to attach file' appear when I try to attach a photo to a text on my Samsung S6?

Hi there,

What texting app are you using?

How big is the picture?

Do you have mobile data turned on? Picture messages are MMS, not SMS, and mobile data needs to be turned on to send MMS. You can't send MMS with WiFi.

I just started having this problem too and came here looking for an answer. I'm using the default messaging and gallery apps, the photo is 4.81MB, mobile data and wi-fi are both on.

Since it just started, I'd expect a software update to have caused it, but I'm not aware of either of those apps updating recently.

I've also noticed that photos have disappeared from past messaging threads.

After a reboot I'm now able to attach photos to new messages. This is odd, because I had rebooted only a couple hours prior to noticing the problem. My old attachments are still missing, however. Not a big loss, but kind of annoying.
