Android Central Question

If I use a photo from Gallery as Wallpaper it will fill screen a few days but thenshrink to about 1/3 size spontaneously when in landscape mode. This has gone on for months and I have restored photo to full size hundreds of time.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you tell us the exact model name of the tablet? There was no "Tab 8" -- I'm guessing this is the 8" version of one of the various Galaxy Tabs out there.

How do you restore the wallpaper to full size?

Sorry it is the 8 in version of Tab 8. I just reset the wallpaper with the same photo and it stays that way for a couple of days and then shrinks against in landscape mode, never in portrait.

Tried this but did not get to safe mode but rather Android recovery with a list of options from rebooting to bootloader, run graphics tests , run locals text. No idea what all of these represent. Looks like I will just live with this problem. My wife's 10 inch version does not seem to have this flaw, yet.

I believe once you see the logo just hold volume up until screen lock appears , looks like you still were holding both buttons and went to recovery mode.

That's still not what I'm looking for. Go to Settings>About Tablet, then look at Model Name/Number. What does it say there?

Trie d that way to get to Safe Mode but didn't work. However, I discovered that if I pressed poer but to turn off and then. hit PowerOff 2x I entered safe mode! Go figur. Reset wallpaper to see if it stays full size.e

Not sure if this was ever resolved or not. I'm having the same issue on a Galaxy Tab Active2 (SM-T397U, Android v9, One UI v1.1), and I tried the Safe Mode test. The issue does not appear to present itself in Safe Mode - if the wallpaper is already "shrunk" before restarting in Safe Mode it still appears that way, however if I set the wallpaper again to full size I can't get it to "shrink" with any of the normal actions. For me usually the issue happens with things like entering & exiting apps, entering & exiting Settings, or entering & exiting app folders - one of those actions will randomly trigger the wallpaper going from full screen to ~1/3 of the screen. Note that my tablet is always locked in landscape orientation, due to a HW cradle used with the device.
