Why does Chromecast now notify everyone on network when I'm casting?

Serious issue here - when I cast anything to my chromecast, every android device on the same wifi network gets a notification of what i'm casting and has ability to control playback. What the hell? I don't want my neighbor in room 712 to know I'm watching Steel Magnolias. This is absurd.

It's a new 'feature' (yes, I hate it, too!). You can turn it off in your Google Settings but that would turn off displaying the remote in your device, not showing it in everyone else's (everyone in the network would have to turn it off on their devices to make it stop).

I've noticed this as well. It's not just annoying, it can also be confusing. If someone else on the network sees the notification and stops the cast, thinking that will get rid of the notification, that will impact the person who's trying to watch.

I suggest sending this as feedback to Google from within the Google Home app. The more people complain about it, the more likely they'll do something about it!
