Why does everyone want ICS so bad?

So far its better than any phone OS even better than iOS (I used to be and iPhone user for 3 years)

I did, its slow and terrible next to Infected Eternity 3.0, 3.5 is even better, to bad it never had 4G.... which is the point Sense 3.5+ is accelerated by the GPU, Sense 3.0 has been taken as far as it can be and even 3.6 will be leaps and bounds better not to mention 4.0 just on hardware acceleration alone, not to mention whats devs will do with it... the Evo 3D is great and capable hardware and deserves better than Gingerbread and Sense 3.0

also ICS has better memory management and has hardware acceleration, better battery life, better task multitasking, and (i heard) it uses both cores properly since gingerbread wasn't designed for dual core cpus (ICS was)

ICS also has a large array of small features and details that make completely different. its like the difference between Windows 7 and Windows 98.

I tried ICS on the 3D weeks ago, and been running ICS on a HP Touchpad for months, its rock steady and a total overhaul top to bottom. hard to believe Gingerbread and ICS have anything to do with each other and its hard to compare them to tell u exactly which feature(s) u should be excited about.

just try it, sprint has the Nexus on display, the different is immediately noticeable
Sounds good to me.

Only question I have is, will we have to reset our phones and re-add our contacts, files, apps, etc when we upgrade to ICS?

Just sync with google and backup everything with titanium backup and you will be fine.

Nah, any rom that forces both cores online all the time pretty much shows it doesn't really understand how these phones are supposed to work.

I think mikeyxda would seriously disagree!

A lot of the devs disagree with my point of view :)

But I take the stance that for the most part, Google and HTC engineers have a better grasp of what's going on than they do.

So why does my phone run superior rooted than unrooted? You find a stock single core 3D that gets benchmarks like this then you can have a debate!

Your definition of superior is different than mine. So your phone "won" a benchmark test. I haven't had a single issue with speed with the standard clock speed, why would I want to ruin my battery by increasing it?

I don't play benchmarks all day. I actually use my phone, and the longer I can use it without charging, the better. If I wanted to take benchmark screenshots all day, then sure, I'd run this thing faster than I do now. But when I want to have a completely great experience, without lag, that lasts 20 hours, I leave it the way it is.

I'm using zr-icsense GT with stock kernel running 1188 max 756 min! When I was still on 3.0 GT I was at 1728 max 384 min! Sure the battery is better at stock but the performance was far better over clocked. Using dodava's kernel was just as stable as stock. I still could get at least 12 hours with slightly above average usage. And benchmarks do have some value in showing what your phone is capable of unless you use a fake rigged Rom like sk rom. But I have to admit I'm perfectly satisfied with the stock performance on zr-icsense gt.

I would like to hear this response also?? All dual-core roms utilize power a lot better than a single core would. In reality you would get better performance at stock speeds than a single core over clocked!

And I get the best overall experience and battery life by leaving the core stock, so it uses the speed it's given and uses the second core only when necessary. Dual core in a standard environment all the time is not going to change your experience all that much. It's just not designed to. Again, if all you experience is benchmarks, I suppose that statement will be different for you.

But why not stock? Plenty of reasons. Reboot menu, battery guage, tethering, notification changes, leedroid tweaks, browser edits, different signal themes, themes in general, keyboard changes, audio changes, removed bloat, and disabled logging.

Since I don't play benchmarks all day and I don't have any lag with anything, plus I have great battery life, I get plenty out of ROMs.

I'm using the stock linux 3.0 ics kernel right now and my benchmarks are probably half of what they were oc at 1.7 GHz. And my on hands performance seems the same to me running both cores. It seems running one core has a lot of lag but not when both cores are active.

I was just wondering why everyone wants ICS so bad?
Because it's freaking awesome!

if everybody thought this way, they'd still be on froyo. or worse....on a bb or phone where you have to dial 7777 to type an "S"...
Agreed.

...it's the reason we all root ... we aren't happy with just stock and/or standing still with our devices.
I haven't took the plunge with my ƎVO yet, waiting for the official release, too afraid to void warranty etc.
I am running CM9 on my Touchpad, it's really really nice. Better than GB and HC IMO. Runs really smooth, app switching is great. Lots of options to customize the launcher. it just feels like a "proper" working software, the're really starting to get it right.
The difference between GB and ICS to me is like the difference between Vista and 7. The first attempt was ambitious, but still "rough around the edges". The later one got it right, everything works like it should.

Like this one..

Ǝ

If you have a Windows computer.. Look under in your start menu/programs/accessories/system tools/character map.

You will find the backwards " Ǝ " along with dozens and dozens of other letters to copy and paste.

FYI, Its called Latin Capital Letter Reversed E
