Android Central Question

Every time I change to a new phone, Google syncs all my contacts and screws up every contact by adding more of the same contacts, switching phone numbers, pictures of contacts, addresses and emails. I DO NOT have Google set to sync anything on my phone except my own email account. Is there any way to finally stop Google from screwing up my contact list.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you only have one Google account, or multiple ones? Go to contacts.google.com on your computer browser -- are your contacts correctly entered there? If so, then those contacts should be the ones that are syncing to your phone.

Do you have any other accounts on the phone that are syncing contacts, like Samsung?

I found that I need to periodically aggressively manually monitor and control the settings for any gmail account that my phone might become aware of, to stop the phone from automatically doing this sort of stuff. I find that Android just naturally always tries to set things up for gmail accounts they way that they/google assumes they think people want it. That default probably works for most people (and probably why google does it), but I guess I am just weird for wanting some of my settings to be different.
