Why does LTE notification stay on while on Wifi (Verizon)?

Re: LTE stays on while on Wifi (Verizon)

So why are you getting so up tight that I was stating something basic? Like wow, first world problems "oh no my 4G still shows my life is over."

Because you were giving misinformation. WiFi does not "automatically" disable 4G. If any Verizon apps that use data are running in the background, you will eat through data without knowing why. Verizon apps ONLY run on mobile data. They will not use WiFi.
Your "basic" information was wrong. It's not a matter of the 4G showing, it was ACTIVE.
Once I identified which carrier app was using it, I disabled it, and now it's grayed out. Problem solved. But it was not "automatic."
Not everyone has unlimited data, and can't afford to have things using mobile data 24/7.

It's normal for Verizon phone .

That's how mine looks now that I disabled Caller Name ID. Before I did that, the 4G was lit up as bright as the WiFi icon, 24/7, and periodically showed activity, even while WiFi was active.

I wouldn't have even found my way to this thread if my 4G was grayed out like that before, but it never was. The one who posted that he checked running apps and found it was the visual voicemail made me check every Verizon app's settings.

Hi, I am with Bell Mobility and I noticed the same thing this morning on my Samsung S5. I checked which app were last updated and found " Bell appuyez pour parler". I removed the update and the LTE or H+ icon disappeared when I am on Wifi. It seems that this app needs the data network to function even if you are on Wifi. So if you don't want any additionnal data to be added to your plan, either remove this app or its latest update. Hope this was useful to Canadian users.

I have the Note 4. I upgraded to Lollipop over the weekend and now my phone is super slow and the 4G and WiFi run at the same time. I tested it while connected to my WiFi on Youtube and 4g is still running. I disabled Caller ID like on my old s4/s5 and still have the same problem. I haven't installed any Rouge apps at all recently. I don't play games on my phone, just use it for work. Any ideas?

Hello, I've been having the same issue as all of you. I know some people are saying that the data icon stays on, but that was not the case for my S4. Anytime I had a wifi connection it would replace the data icon. I knew something was using my mobile network even while connected to my wifi.

I found out the problem for me was "Bell Push to Talk" app. My phone was rooting so I just uninstalled it and it fixed the issue. Although some people here are on Verizon, take a look through your Android OS apps and see if anything is leeching Data. I used Onavo Count to see if any data was being used during wifi.

In T-Mobile it is curiously unthinkable when wifi is taken Internet activity while 4G LTE standsby without action lol its just doing nothing poor wifi doing all the work but I'm curious why 4G LTE isn't doing nothing but just standing there. We'll I believe that 4G LTE is there because today January 3,2016 starts my new cycle which refreshes my gigs, calling, and texting. So I don't promise anything it's just my thoughts guys.2016_01_03_11.14.45.png2016_01_03_11.14.45.png
