Why does my Android keyboard keep closing randomly?

Android keyboard keeps closing randomly

My default keyboard keeps closing in the middle of me typing something.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S5, Lollipop, using the default keyboard app, like I said. It only really happens in the Chrome browser; I can type just fine in other apps (I had to type this in Memos then copy/paste into Chrome).

I've cleared the data & cache multiple times, to no avail. Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Do any other keyboards have that problem? Try installing Google Keyboard or Swiftkey and see what happens.

Also, it might be an issue with Chrome. Go to the App Manager, select Chrome, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now try again.

1st thing to install for me was SwiftKey !!
The "stock" keyboard works, but I like the ability to change the look. With a SuperAMOLED+ display, using a black theme keyboard assists to some extent on battery life.. Resizable.. Custom layouts.. Just my 2cp
