Why does my device say I have insufficient space on my device, even when I have space?

Insufficient Space on device, even when i have space

Help! I have a samsung galaxy s4 and i need to update most of my apps to be able to keep using them, however when i click update it says there is 'insufficient space on my device' even though i have 500mb free. I am unable to download any of the clearance apps and i dialed the '*#9900#' number and this did not help at all. I have deleted a lot of my internal storage and still can't do anything!

Hi,have you cleared all you app cashe's yet? Have you tried rebooting? I assume you mean cleaning apps when you say clearance apps? What apps are you wanting to download? Do you have playstore?

Install this simple little app. It's very small and should fit even in very limited storage. It will show you how much space you actually have to install more software.

1) Read Low on space? Dump logcat.

2) The system itself needs about 500MB to function - it won't let you leave so little storage that the system crashes.
