Why does my ear/face dial another number while I am on the phone

I have a new huawei p30 pro and everytime I make a call my face/ear calls someone else. Its getting very embarrassing to have to keep apologising to people and explain I didn't mean to call them. What can I do?

Welcome to the forums. You can lock the screen by clicking the power button after your call connects to prevent this from happening.

Or get the proximity detector fixed (assuming that you don't have a case or screen protector that's blocking it).
