Why does my flashlight flicker when I plug my charger in?

New Cloud Mobile Stratus C5 Elite phone from lifeline service. Just opened, turned on and activated today. When I noticed the phone was at 4% battery I put the it on the charger. As soon as I plugged the charger into it, the phone shut off, and has not turned back on since. The flashlight on the phone flickers when the charger is connected, and the phone does not show that it is connected to the charger and actually charging.

It sounds to me as if it may be faulty. If so, ask for a replacement.

Since you just got it , call customer service where you bought it for warranty

Welcome to Android Central! Let it charge undisturbed for about 4 hours, then try powering on again.

In general, avoid letting the battery discharge that close to zero on a regular basis. That will significantly decrease the overall lifespan of the battery.

Probably a bad soldering job on the charging port. Or you can check the little metal prongs in the end of your charger and inside the charging port on the phone.
