galaxy s5 has black unresponsive screen

Last night my screen went black. I've taken out the battery and all that stuff and still nothing. Phone still rings but can't answer it. Notification light still works and so do the bottom 2 keys. I can still hear when a text message comes in or any other notification. I've even tried doing a factory reset but that screen won't even show up. Help please.

In a dark room, shine a flashlight at about a 30 degree angle to the screen when it should be lit. See if there's any hint of shadows or lines. If so, the LED layer is bad. If not, the LCD layer is bad. (Or the motherboard could be bad in either case,)

That's what warranties are for.

Must be a bad batch. I'm on here searching post battery out/in procedure. Not sure what happened. I thought the battery went dead but I haven't used it much today. Just kind of strange. Reminded me of when my iPhone would get too hot outside last summer.
