Why does my galaxy s7 edge's screen turn off whenever I face the phone downwards ?

Whenever I try to use my phone in bed and its facing downwards, the screen just goes black, when I touch the screen I can here that im interacting with the screen yet i cant see a thing. Help ?

Welcome to Android Central! Smart Stay isn't on, is it? This shouldn't matter anyway, but maybe in that position, it isn't detecting that you're looking at the screen, and therefore turning it off.
