Why does Galaxy S7 redial numbers by itself?

I just activated my new Samsung Galaxy S7 (Verizon, 32GB) a few days ago, and I'm still getting used to differences between Android 5.x and 6.0.1. One major annoyance has been that the phone keeps automatically redialing numbers. For example, I called my office this morning (using my bluetooth headset). Over the next 60 minutes, even with bluetooth disconnected, my phone spontaneously redialed the same number for a total of 5 times. Each time, it occurred after I used the phone for something else. As soon as I quit the other app (usually, it was texting, to a variety of different contacts), the phone would start dialing again.

My Galaxy S7 is not rooted. It is using the stock contacts, phone, and text messaging apps. I did install the Swype keyboard, but I disabled the voice dialing functionality because the voice-recognition from Nuance/Swype stinks compared to the Google algorithm.

Any idea what is causing this, and how I can keep it from happening?

Mine does the same thing. Do you have any type of screen lock set up?
