Why does my Gear VR set up start in error?

Gear VR set up starts in error

Hi

Over the past few days, whenever I've plugged my charger cable into my s6 it seems to think that I've connected a Gear VR headset as a woman's voice comes on and says something about configuration, and the screen goes black with a small white cross in the bottom corner.

Does anybody know if there is any fix for this issue? I can resolve it short term by doing a soft reset, but it just happens all over again after a few hours.
