Why does my Google widget randomly clear an active search?

Google widget randomly clears active search

I have a Sony Z3. Ive recently noticed that when I search with the Google widget sometimes the search randomly disappears and goes to the black screen when it is opened. There appears to be no reason for this. It has happened in the middle of me typing, scrolling, etc. Any insights?

Welcome to Android Central! Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Google App, and Clear Cache. See if the problem persists.

You could also try wiping the cache partition: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-16654
