Why does my HTC Desire Eye camera freeze and stops working?

I have the same problem. Started today. Instagram is fine. Mine's HTC one M8, running Android 6.0 in the UK.

Go to the HTC Car App, tap Speak, download your language pack and the camera will work again. Crazy but it worked for me (I could not find HTC Speak on my phone).

Hey guys..just follow what albiswiss did. Go to HTC Car and install the language pack in Speak..crazy yet amazingly it works.the camera is back to normal.. thanks albiswiss..

Thank you for this information - It worked on my HTC M8.

Like others over night this week (27th June) my phone became almost unusable - laggy with camera freezing or becoming unresponsive. Even basic stuff like the motion gestures were effected.

Downloading the language pack resolved it instantly. Just a shame I didn;t find the answer before carrying out a full factory reset & loosing all my text messages - Despite backing them up through the in built backup & the HTC PC back up systems - Both of which failed
