Why does my HTC One phone ring and sometimes not?

why does my htc one phone wring and sometimes not.

When a call comes in it does not always wring and i miss calls because of it.

The HTC one has a setting for behaviors like flipping the phone quiets the ring. Placing it in a dark place makes it ring louder cause it thinks it's in a purse or pocket. Check these settings and try different combinations until you find what you want. Is it always the same numbers? Make sure they aren't on a DND list, and that they're ringtones aren't set to silent.
