Why does my keyboard enter double characters?

My keyboard will randomly double the first letter entered from the second word and the cursor sometimes moves to the middle of the first word when I enter the first letter of the second word.

This stops when I disable "Show correction suggestions" but I really want this enabled.

Started about 6 months ago and I've done a factory reset.

On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK. Be aware, though, that some Chinese manufacturers don't allow users to boot into Safe Mode, for unclear reasons.
