Why does my LED light flash at random times?

Whether my phone is charging or on my side, the LED light will flash at random times. I'll look to see if I have a new photo or an opened app only to find nothing out of the ordinary. I just recently replaced my old Galaxy S6 with the new one after an unfortunate accident. Before the incident, the old S6 did the same thing. After getting the new S6, I was unable to transfer from the broken phone due to the extreme nature of it's injury, but the flashes started shortly after setting up the new one. Is anyone experiencing this strobing nuisance?

By a "new photo or an app has opened" do you mean a notification? It's confusing with the way you worded it.

Could be a permanent notification causing the problem if not a normal one.
