Why does my LG G3 have constant data transfer, battery discharge?

LG G3 Constant Data Transfer, battery discharge.

First off, I'm new to the forums, so hello!
I just got a new LG G3 a couple of days ago, and I have a question about data transfer. Every time I unlock/turn on the screen on my phone, it shows that there is data transferring on my wi-fi constantly. Either the upload or download arrow is ALWAYS going, and I don't want it to do that. I downloaded some apps for stopping processes, and when I stopped some (like PayPal, for example) it came right back not even 30 seconds later. I feel that's what's causing my battery to discharge so quickly. Yes, I am aware that my display uses a lot of battery power, but I don't think that it's using all of that power when it's off. I just charged it a little while ago, and it's already down to 97% from 100%, and I haven't even used it.
Some of the bloatware is pretty annoying, too. Like the NFL app, I have absolutely no use for it, and nothing will let me uninstall it. Same goes for the Amazon app store/suite, IMDB, and some others. The bloatware seems to be a bit of a problem as far as processes constantly running.
I'd just like some help to stop this, because coming from an iPhone 4, I never had any problems with background programs because there were no background programs. I find the battery draining quite annoying, plus the paranoia bit of being tracked, but I think that part is under control now.

When I went into the application manager, it wouldn't let me turn off any apps. The "report" option was available, but only for downloaded apps. System apps could only be stopped, not reported or turned off. My phone is running KitKat, by the way.

Which carrier do you have?

From an AOSP M8

What it means by turning off is disabling the app. You can disable apps in the application manager, but yes, you cannot disable some apps because Android needs them.

Just out of curiosity, which apps were you trying to "turn off?"

On a lot of apps, the option to turn them off isn't available.
The apps that I'm trying to turn off/uninstall are the NFL app, Amazon app store, Amazon app suite, and come other ones.
As far as apps I want to keep, I don't understand why Gmail, Play Music, and PayPal are ALWAYS running. I don't see a need for any of them to constantly run.

Okay, I think I got this figured out now. I ended up getting a backgroud process killer, and it has so far worked pretty well. I noticed a small increase in battery life. I probably just have to break in the battery.
