Why does my LG G3 record videos sideways?

LG G3 Video Recording

So trying to figure out why my LG G3 takes video sideways.

When taking video I hold the phone horizontally, which the top of the phone to the left. With my old Galaxy S3 this would give me good video, but with the G3 the video plays sideways.

If I play the file on my computer it plays right, but when uploaded to YouTube or Facebook it plays sideways.

I was able to use YouTube video editing to get it to play right but why am I having difficulty?

I didn't see any video settings to choose/change when in video mode on the camera.

Help!

Welcome to Android Central! Is your phone's Auto-Rotate turned on, or is it locked in portrait?

Auto rotate is on, but I discovered if I rotate the phone to the right it records and plays video's correctly, just not when I rotate to the left.

Now that's odd. Rotating to the right is often not considered the conventional way to go to landscape, either. At least you have a partial solution ...
