Why does my LG V40 ThinQ have problems with Wi-Fi connection after the Android Pie update?

My LG V40 ThinQ (T-Mobile) has issues after the Android Pie update. When I switch on the WiFi, the network signal drops immediately and goes back on after several seconds, and then drops again and it happens over and over again. I have to put the phone in airplane mode so I can keep my Wi-Fi on. I really need some help.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen on any wi-fi network, or just your home network? If it's only at home, first try rebooting your router by unplugging its power for 30 seconds, then plugging back in. Have you tried turning mobile data off first, then turning WiFi on? (You can't be on the internet through two separate paths on a phone, it's not a dual-homed server.)
