Why does my messenger keep crashing?

I have the HTC M9 through Verizon. I purchased it in July of this year. Recently it has been glitching really bad. Almost everything I open my messenger it says that it has unexpectedly closed. And it asks me if I want to read a report, and I do it everytime. Also it have been sending my messages multiple times and sending ones from weeks ago. Help me please.

Welcome to Android Central! Is it only the messenger that's glitching, or are there other problems? Is it the stock Messaging app, Facebook Messenger, or Google Messenger?

It's the stock messenger and the google messenger app. They barley work

No. My messages worked in safe mode

Some 3rd party app is probably interfering. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away. It can be tedious, though, since it's hard to pinpoint which app is causing the problem.

If it just recently started, think of which apps you might have installed around that time.
