Why does my Note 5 keep getting stuck on the split screen?

Note 5 keeps getting stuck on split screen

No matter what I do on my note 5, it keeps going to the split screen window, almost like the tabs button keeps getting pressed. I can't do anything on my phone because it exits out of everything and tries to split the screen.

If you hold the recent button on the bottom that opens split screen. So make sure you are accidentally doing that

I am not even TOUCHING my phone, it keeps clicking and going to split screen mode. Even in split screen, I can here the thing clicking as if the recent key is activated. And it isn't "regular". The timing is somewhat irregular. I tried reboot. I've tried simple screen, even then I can here the clicking...and I don't like simple screen. What is this phone doing??
